Global Young Leaders English for debate: three hours per day through classroom based seminars and workshops A 90 minute debate each day Social activities each evening – disco, quiz, talent show etc Excursions: one per week to London and one to Oxford / Cambridge per week Sports / local visits 90 minutes per day

Global Young Leaders boys and girls ages 14 -17

  English through debate

15 hours per week of English through debating to develop critical thinking and an awareness of the complexities relating to global issues. EFL classes comprising seminars and workshops on the day’s global theme. Students participate in workshops and exercises focusing on particular skills
including structuring arguments and mastering appropriate styles of presentation

  Debating session

The remaining classroom time being devoted to the learning and applying of debating skills under the guidance of our mentors, who are experienced debating coaches. The course is combining a number of elements to build skills in debating but also to develop critical thinking and an awareness of the complexities relating to global issues: the environment, poverty and development, cultural policy, world politics and international security.

Through the format of British Parliamentary Debating, thinking skills are developed, a huge amount of knowledge about the political world is gained and the ability to argue in support of a well-analysed opinion is developed.
